My name is Sungju Moon. Some call me “SJ”. As of Spring 2023, I have joined Nevada State College as an assistant professor of mathematics.
I earned my PhD from Seoul National University in 2021 under the supervision of J.-J. Baik. For my PhD project, I studied applied nonlinear dynamics and chaos motivated by problems in atmospheric modeling.
Upon graduating, I stayed at Seoul National University (Research Institute for Basic Sciences) as a National Research Foundation (NRF Korea) Postdoctoral Training Fellow. Then I held a postdoc position at McMaster University in Canada where I was part of the Mathematics for Public Health (MfPH) network at the Fields Institute and was supervised by Michael C. Wolfson.
My research interests include applications of nonlinear dynamics and chaos in the context of atmospheric and epidemiological research. I am currently focused on adopting the agent-based approaches to modeling.
